On the surface, online marketing is about getting your company’s brand, products and services in front of consumers on the Internet. However, what it really offers is the opportunity for you to provide a valuable service to consumers by helping them make good decisions when making purchases.
An effective long term marketing strategy focuses on serving consumers, not just getting to the top spot on Google. While optimizing websites and getting great backlinks are important pieces of the overall online marketing mechanics, it’s really about communicating and connecting with consumers.
You must figure out what your customers want, then use their language to communicate with them. Companies need to focus on answering questions and providing support to enhance the buying experience. These businesses must share their expertise and monitor opinions as expressed by potential and current customers.
Social sites offer a gold mine of public opinion and allow marketers to listen to consumers and shape their marketing strategies accordingly. But remember, opinions are fleeting, so it is vital to continually monitor them on social sites.
To have a great marketing plan, be a great company – give consumers what they want, listen to them, be part of the conversation.

Great article! Very good points for the business owner and also for marketing consultants to share with business owners. I always tell my potentials client and current clients that once you get the customer to your site, to make a phone call or walk in your door you must have a strategy for selling and customer service in order to keep them there and create a relationship with them that will result in a building customer base and positive word of mouth reviews for your business!
