Consumers Embrace Local Marketing on Mobile Phones
Promoting your business in Google, Google Maps, and in other major services that utilize geo-targeted advertising is a smart strategy for locally owned and operated small businesses today.
It is essential that small businesses today get on board with local marketing and advertising techniques in order to ensure that consumers can find them when they are using mobile phones to find locally available products and services.
It’s amazing how fast things are moving. A new study by JiWire reveals that Ads on mobile devices are both welcome and effective.
- 52% of Smartphone users surveyed claim they have acted on an advertisement in an application.
- An amazing 18% have made a purchase directly from an ad in an app in the last month.
- 53% said they were willing to share their location to receive more relevant advertising.
According to Mashable, “this is great news for social gaming apps like Foursquare and Gowalla, which enable users to unlock special deals from advertisers based on their locations.”
David Staas, Senior Vice-President of Marketing at JiWire said;
“With nearly half of the on-the-go mobile audience saying they are more likely to engage with an ad that is relevant to their current location, this is an opportunity brands and agencies are more rapidly embracing.”
It makes perfect sense that local businesses would start adopting geo-targeted advertising on a device that essentially is carried by consumers 24 hours a day.
